Copper Wire Garden Jewelry

I watched videos on YouTube on how to make copper wire plant jewelry.  This was fun to make.  I made three others with beads and some aurora borealis crystals.

Wallhanging

I saw a wallhanging with the word quilt spelled out in squares so I made a small version with 1.5 inch squares.  Not the best but I can always fix the design when I get the chance to do it again.

Still Nesting.

I replaced the dull green curtains that covered my closet in my craft room with a pretty blue and white floral.  I finally decided that my craft room colors will be blue and white.

I also put a blue felt heart banner up over the closet door.  I have two other blue heart hangings in here.  Pictures below.

I'm hoping I can get organized in my craft room soon so I can sandwich and quilt a few quilts.  I think I have 5 tops that need to be finished.  Not including the blue and white hexie quilt I only have one row sewn together on.

Foundation Paper Piecing

I bought this star pattern from Ten Cow Quilts on Etsy.  It was a very nice pattern.  I made this star to place on the back of my denim jacket.  I used fabric from my stash and it was fun to put together.

Scrappy Pillow Cover

The last couple of days I spent cutting and sewing up 112 -3 inch squares to make the front and back of this scrappy pillow cover with my fabric from my stash.  I made the front with 49 squares (7 rows of 7 squares) and after sewing them together I quilted it to a piece of white fabric to stabilize it.  I used the rest of the squares for the envelope back, one piece had 5 rows and the other piece had 4 rows.   It was fun to make.  I want to make more.

Nesting In My Craft Room, Finally

The windows are finished and I've been nesting my craft room.  I set up my corner shelf unit for my African violet, which is loving the north light from the window and I set my irons on the shelves.  The entire bottom shelf is empty now.  I want to put something special on it.

I also spent some time organizing my straight pins.  I needed a clean out. I spent a lot of time getting stuck by pins before I even grabbed a pin.  It was annoying.

Wool Heart Garland

Things have been a little slow crafting wise the past month and a half.  My crafting room is still in chaos waiting for the fix to the window sill that is supposed to happen tomorrow.   Its hard to get to some of my crafting supplies right now.  I have lots of small pillow covers to make when I can get back to my stash.

Last week I bought five 5 inch wool felt squares from an Etsy seller to make a small heart garland to hang over my bedroom door.  I got the squares in the mail yesterday and this garland took me an hour to make and hang.  So fun and easy.

Knitting A Simple Scarf

Just spending time knitting while waiting to have the windows replaced.

Christmas/Winter Pillow Cover

I found this completely adorable polar bear fabric that I had to have to cover a pillow on my bed.  The pink background is perfect for my room.  This will be my last sewing project until after the 18th.  I have to prepare for window replacement next week.  So much stuff to move out of the way.   I'll be crocheting flowers with my embroidery floss and knitting another scarf while my machine is moved.  Now I have to change my sewing machine needle, clean my machine and change out my rotary cutter blade so it will be ready for use again next week.

Simple Sewn Scarves

I bought a yard of rayon challis of two prints to make scarves.  I can make two scarves from 1 yard.  I made one for me and one for dear daughter.  The fabric was only $8.00 a yard from fashion fabric website.

Christmas Tree Garland

I used up some of my Christmas fabric making a Christmas Tree garland.  I sewed each tree to a felt backing.  Using beads for stars and wooden beads to decorate the top.

Used Up A Ball Of Yarn

I found a stray ball of cream colored acrylic worsted weight yarn.  I started crocheting a simple garland with single crochet, then I added a row of slip stitches and chains to give each side a scallop edge.  It has a lacy look to it.

It was really easy to make and I'm going to use it on my little Christmas tree for my room.

Using Up Stash

I found some green velvet fabric left over from some books I covered a couple of years ago.  The left over fabric made lovely pillow covers.  I made one for me and one for dear daughter.  It was a great way to use up that fabric.

I also found my favorite Christmas fabric in my stash, and made a pillow cover with that fabric.

Both pillows were made with pillow forms that were just waiting for their own cover.

I'm in the process of making two Christmas tree garlands.  One for the house and one for my rooms.  I'll post that picture later this week.

Key Fob Wristlets

I ordered the webbing, fabric and hardware from three different etsy shops.  The webbing is 1.25" wide cut into 14" length.  I cut the fabric strips 2" wide x14" long.  Turned the long edges of the fabric under and sewed the fabric to the webbing.  Added the hardware with the help of pliers and I was done.  Preparation took about 40 minutes and sewing and assembling took another 40 minutes.  I made 8 of these altogether.   Fun to make.  These are a useful and customizable gift.

Crafting and Sewing Again

I've been busy settling into my new home.  I did take the time to do some sewing over the last month.

I made some simple elastic waist skirts to wear around the house, a pillow cover, and I finished the curtains for the second closet.

Today I finished knitting the pink/purple scarf I started earlier in the year.  It has 9 colors of different shades of pink and purple yarn.  It measures almost 13 feet.  It will be cosy in winter if it snows again.

Here are two pictures of the knitted scarf.

Here is a picture of the pillow cover.

Big Move

I sold my house last month.  I have moved into my daughter's home.  We combined the front two bedrooms by opening up the connecting wall and I have a craft room and a bedroom.  It's a lovely space.  I'm slowly getting organized so I can find things.

Last week I took time to make curtains for one of my closets.   I ordered 15 yards of lovely green cotton from connecting threads.  I hemmed three panels of 44/45" wide to make them.  I put them on a tension rod.  The curtains work well.  I still have to make the curtains for the other closet. That space needs more organization so I'm not ready to make those curtains just yet.

I haven't done any other crafting or sewing.  I think I'll be settled in about another month.  I had to make address changes and fill out forms.  Its all so time consuming.  Days fly by.

Crochet Scrunchie

I found a pretty crochet scrunchie pattern on youtube.  Link here.  MJ's Off The Hook Designs.  I used a 4.0 mm bamboo hook and the same brand of yarn used in the tutorial.   The yarn is a cotton/acrylic blend, fingering weight.

I made two of these.  One for dear daughter and one for me.  Each scrunchie took me about 4 hours to finish.  It was a fun pattern to crochet and the instructions were very easy to follow.

First Row Of Hexagon Quilt Is Complete

I finished the first row of the hexagon quilt.  I'm busy basting more white hexagons for the next 5 rows.  I believe I may need 400 more white hexagons.  Fun.

Working On The Hexagon Quilt

I finally got my house on the market and I picked up my hexagon quilt to start putting my flowers into rows.  I got the white hexies on the first two flowers of the first row.  I have 34 more full flowers and 6 half flowers to get the quilt top together.   It will take awhile.
